Our verdict
Four compact UK smart plugs that let you switch lamps and appliances on and off from the Tapo app, by voice with Alexa or Google, or on a schedule.
No hub is needed, as each plug connects straight to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Away mode switches things on and off to make it look like someone’s home, and you can share control with family. They’re rated 13A for indoor use, but aren’t for EV charging or appliances with large motors such as air conditioners.
Our verdict: A cheap, reliable first step into smart home kit.
