This Cookie Policy explains how TrueNorth Tech X uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, what each one is for and how you can change your choices at any time. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally. We follow the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work. Others are optional: they help us understand how the site is used. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, are covered by this policy too.
Your choices
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks whether you accept or reject optional cookies, or lets you choose by category under Settings. Optional cookies stay off until you accept them, and rejecting them is as easy as accepting. Your choice is stored for 30 days, after which we ask again.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Use the button below, or the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the site, such as remembering your cookie choice, may not work properly.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- Cookie consent (WPConsent): the
wpconsent_preferencescookie remembers the choice you made on our cookie banner, so we don’t ask on every page. It lasts 30 days. - WooCommerce: our shop is powered by WooCommerce. If a basket or session is ever started, it may set
woocommerce_cart_hash,woocommerce_items_in_cartandwp_woocommerce_session_cookies to keep it working. Because every product links out to Amazon, browsing the shop doesn’t normally start a basket. - Comments (WordPress and wpDiscuz): if you leave a comment and tick the box to save your details, the
comment_author_,comment_author_email_andcomment_author_url_cookies remember your name, email and website for next time. wpDiscuz, our comment system, may also set small functional cookies, for example to remember that you’ve dismissed its new-comments hint. If you log in, WordPress sets its usual login cookies.
Statistics (optional, only with your consent)
- Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4, through the MonsterInsights plugin, to see which pages are popular and how visitors find us. Its cookies, such as
_gaand_ga_, are only set after you accept Statistics cookies. Until then, Google Analytics runs in Google’s consent mode, which tells it not to store any analytics cookies on your device. In that mode Google may still receive basic, cookieless signals, for example that a page was viewed. - WooCommerce order attribution: WooCommerce’s attribution script, which sets
sbjs_cookies recording how you arrived at the site, is blocked until you accept Statistics cookies.
Amazon affiliate links
As an Amazon Associate, TrueNorth Tech X earns from qualifying purchases. Our “Check price on Amazon” buttons and other Amazon links take you to amazon.co.uk with our affiliate tag in the link. We don’t set any Amazon cookies on this website. When you arrive on amazon.co.uk, Amazon may set its own cookies, including ones that record that you came from our link, so that we can be credited for qualifying purchases. Those cookies are controlled by Amazon under its own cookie notice and privacy notice, which you can read on amazon.co.uk.
Newsletter (MailPoet)
Our newsletter sign-up form is run by MailPoet on our own website. When you subscribe, the details you enter are stored on our server so we can send you the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe using the link in any email. The sign-up form doesn’t need cookies to work, and MailPoet’s optional cookie tracking is switched off on this site.
Full cookie list
The table below is produced by our consent tool and lists the cookies by category, with what each is for and how long it lasts.
Changes to this policy
If we add or change the tools we use, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change needs fresh consent, the cookie banner will ask you again.
