A discount doesn’t automatically make something a bargain, but this one is. giffgaff is selling an 18-month SIM-only plan with 200GB of data for £12 a month, plus unlimited UK calls and texts. It’s normally a 50GB plan, and giffgaff is adding 150GB of extra data for the full 18 months.
Why it’s worth a look
On giffgaff’s own price list, 200GB normally costs £20 a month on the same 18-month contract. That makes this the same allowance for £8 a month less, or £144 cheaper over the term (£216 in total instead of £360). For most people, 200GB is effectively unlimited: it covers heavy streaming, hotspotting a laptop and plenty of video calls.
Who it suits
- Anyone happy with O2 coverage where they live and work (giffgaff runs on O2’s network).
- People whose phone is already paid off and who want to stop overpaying a big network.
- Heavy data users who want lots of data without paying for an unlimited plan.
The catch
- It’s an 18-month commitment. If you want to be able to leave any month, giffgaff’s rolling plans cost more for the same data.
- Sign up before 7 December 2026 to get the extra 150GB.
- giffgaff describes its plans as having no mid-contract price rises. Still, check the terms on the checkout page before you commit.
- Check O2 coverage at your postcode first. A cheap plan is no bargain if there’s no signal at home.

If you use much less data, this is the cheapest way into a giffgaff contract we found. It costs £144 over the 18 months, with unlimited calls and texts.
SMARTY 32GB for £8 a month (rolling)
This is the pick if you don’t want to be tied in. SMARTY’s homepage is currently offering 32GB for £8 (“double data, same great price”) on its plans, which run on Three’s network. SMARTY says it doesn’t do annual price rises on its rolling one-month plans, so you can leave whenever you like.
